Updated Disclaimer

ami

Hi everyone!  If you browse through my amigurumi patterns, you may notice an updated disclaimer at the bottom.  When I first started my blog and sharing my amigurumi patterns for free five years ago, I toyed with the idea of opening my own online store to sell my finished products.  Thus, I did not want people selling their finished products using my patterns.  The thought of factories in far away countries mass producing my designs also scared me, although I doubt that having a disclaimer at the bottom of my patterns would deter them anyway!

Now that I am so focused on blogging, creating new designs, and very busy as the mom of two young children, I do not have any intentions of opening my own store to sell my finished products.  Furthermore, I frequently receive e-mails and comments from people asking if I sell my work as they would like to purchase the amigurumi that I post and blog about!  Thus, I have updated my policies so that you MAY sell your finished products made using my designs and patterns!  When you do, I ask that you:

  • Please clearly credit the design to me, Stephanie Lau of All About Ami!
  • Provide a link to my blog: www.AllAboutAmi.com
  • Please use your own photos when selling your work as it is misleading to your potential customers if you use my photos in your stores and listings.
  • Please do not use my designs for mass production or factory manufacturing.
  • Please DO NOT sell my free patterns, reproduce them anywhere, or distribute them.  If you see someone trying to sell one of my free patterns online or take credit for one of my designs, please let me know.
  • Be wary of selling finished items based on characters from movies or shows as they have different copyright policies (e.g. Despicable Me Minion, Cotton from Oblivion Island, etc).

I thank you so much to those of you who have been respectful of my wishes this entire time and for looking out for me when you saw people trying to sell my free patterns or take credit for them!  I would love to compile a list of vendors who take on commissions or make products using my patterns so that I can direct people to your stores in case people ask me!  Feel free to leave a comment below sharing your stores if you would like to be added to this list- please also indicate what country you are from so that I can organize it by geographical area, which will be helpful for potential customers!  I am thankful that I am able to make some revenue through advertising and affiliate links on this blog- every time you make a purchase through Amazon or Etsy through one of my links, we make some commission!  It amazes me that I can help support our family while doing what I love doing: crocheting, blogging, and sharing free patterns with everyone!  Thank you again for all your support!
