In reply to Stephanie. I have another questions. I always struggle with the turns. Because the chains count at the end of a row I stitch into them before I turn and after I turn and chain one stitch back into them right?

In reply to Angela. Hey Angela! Those initial chains (turning chain) count as one stitch! You can think of that row being broken up into chunks of three stitches (the two dc's and the crossed-over dc), so those sets add up to a multiple of 3 (84). On either end of the row, they are "framed" by one double crochet (the last double crochet at the end, and those initial chains at the beginning which count as a stitch). The 84 + 2 = 86 stitches! I will update the pattern to mention that those initial chains count as one double crochet!

I also tried beginning in the 4th stitch from the hook (2nd sc) to equal a total of 86 and ended with two stitches, not 1 to dc Into to. So I really don’t know what to do. Have 58 stitches messes up the count in future rows…

I’m having a hard time keeping 86 stitches after my first round of row 2. If you begin at the 5th stitch from the hook (third single stitch) then you lose the first single stitch because you only work back for one stitch. This leaves me with 85 stitches in a completed row, Unless I’m totally missing something! Please help!
