I love your patterns and am very excited to learn the cable stitches! I am currently working on the cabled beanie but as I progress, my work seems to be slanting. Any suggestions or thoughts on what I could be doing incorrectly? Thank you so much!!

I’d say it’s a tad more intermediate. I’ve been crocheting for about 5 years now and it took a bit of practice with the braids. I think it’s manageable if you’re willing to put the effort an research in. It took me about 4ish days due to my busy college schedule 🙂

Hi Charley,

I used Big Twist’s “Chunky” yarn in Chunky Black.
One thing I noticed was that the chunky yarn expanded the cables and made them bubble out a bit more. Length-wise, still slouchy.
As I mentioned previously, I thought of gifting it to my brother, so I made the starting chain (the diameter) a bit longer and yet the finished result ended up fitting snuggly on my own head.
Overall I’m wondering that it was a bit too chunky, due to the cobbles. I kept this one for myself and it’s definitely thick and warm. I may experiment with a thinner yarn next time. It’s still such a lovely pattern!

Hi Madilyn – I’m thinking of working this up in Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick, because I’ve got two skeins in the Fisherman color on hand. How did you make out with the thicker yarn? Any lessons learned as far as modifying Stephaine’s pattern? : ) Thanks! Charley

I’m making it in black and modifying it a bit since I had a thicker yarn, I wanted a chunkier look. (I’m using a 6.0mm hook all around). So far so good! Thinking it may be a good gift for my brother-in-law.
